Hani, my parents moved us down to Colchester in 1975 when I was a nipper. We lived down Guildford Road on the Riverside Estate at the bottom of East Hill. There were loads of young families on the estate at that time in the early 70's who had moved down form London, especially East London. Pretty much all my mates at school supported West Ham

Re: Where have you lived?
Quite a lot of Colchester comes up on here. No surprise I suppose, but I lived there for a couple of years and while a massive town it never felt 'Essex' to me. I'm talking early 90's here. The locals were very insular and never seemed to leave the four walls of the town. Coming from London back then was seen as quite exotic. Probably changed now but was never a place that Londoners had migrated to, as much as say Chelmsford or Southend
